The Problem

First College Lincs LogoThe organisation has grown to 44 staff and this is split over 3 sites. Due to the increase in growth, the IT infrastructure had developed organically. This had led to a wide variety of printing devices located on most staff members’ desk which posed a number of issues around printing support, limited capabilities and sharply increasing printing costs. In addition to this, First College had photocopying devices on what appeared to be an expensive long term agreement which were exhausting the printing/photocopying budget.  

There was also a desire to look at the increasing volume of paperwork that the business handles on a day-day basis and establish if there were any processes that could be streamlined using the developments in technology. 

The Solution

In early 2010 after a number of scoping sessions, subsequent recommendations were made and First College Lincs implemented 3 New Canon Multifunctional Devices (MFD’s), replacing 32 desktop printers. They have found the Canon solution to be of a far superior print and copy quality to what they had previously been using. This provided the organisation with immediate benefits not only financially, but also in freeing up staff time. 

The organisation has also embraced the scanning facilities that are now available within the MFD’s and through regular account management has a better insight into how documents are currently handled. This allows them to make informed strategic decisions with regards to document anagement and improving business processes.
